R.I.P. Anthony Shadid
Anthony Shadid, two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and foreign correspondent for the AP, Boston Globe, Washington Post, and New York Times died on assignment in Syria. He was 43.

I've enjoyed his reporting. It tended to have a depth to it that other journalists lacked. In part, I believe, because of his Lebanese background and Arabic fluency. The good die young.

It's a huge loss. He was not only a great reporter, he was a fine writer.
In judging a two-person singing contest, never award the prize to the second soprano having heard only the first.

He was important in interpreting that world to us. It just really sux, he was so young.
