Tape deck problem
I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima with a radio/cd/tape player combination. When I turn the ignition on the tape player tries to load a tape. I eventually get a tape error even though there is no tape in the player. I would like to disengage the tape player since I dont use it.

The only effective method I know of is to replace the unit with an aftermarket radio/cd player.
Your only other option(that I know of) is to remove the power to the unit which kills the CD and radio.
They say technology slows down for no one. I know it outruns my wallet. I figure its because my wallet isn't light enough yet.

I would insert a tape in the player...try to play it and pop it out.. That might trip the switch back to thinking there isn't a tape in.
Imagine a world where dogs took bad owners to the pound...
