thing thats funny is the amount of people in an uproar over it happening just now.

FB did this, or at least started to do this 2 weeks ago, as it was over a week ago that I remember seeing it happening on my end, fiddled around with it (though I eventually said to hell with it and left it), and even proceeded to make a pointless complaint post about it, so others on my list would see.

As usual, not a single person even commented, or noticed. despite the fact I had been getting nagging notices by FB at the top of my news feed for 2 days about the changes/additions.

The other change was they changed your Profiles URL link, you have to keep the link "name" that it has, or can change it so its your own custom profile name or whatever, and can only change it once after its been done.

now the question is whether this will be a legit email to use, or if this is just some dummy spoof email for security reasons on FB? As I have yet to see any mention of the email system and how to send out from it or anything.

supposedly they launched it 2 years ago, but I don't remember it ever happening, I remember talk about it, but I don't remember any sort of built in Email client for use with in or while On facebook.

But I agree it is stupid either way.

I recall they were designing an email client at one point, or redesign the message box to handle it. I've tried sending messages to my @facebook address and they never show up anywhere.

How do I use my @facebook.com email address? - Facebook Help Center | Facebook

To be honest I think this is a bunch of nothing to get all bent out of shape about, espically since no one really uses it (or knew about it)

True but I think it has more to do with people having the choice of displaying their email on their page or being forced to display the nonexistent facebook one. For me it Doesn't matter as I had mine hidden a while ago before the timeline came about. Though I can understand why people would be pissed being forced to use the facebook one instead and not allowed to opt in for it or told how to keep your own on your page. Just feeds the paranoia about facebook and what they are up to.

Anyone who is actually concerned doesn't use FaceBook. For everyone else, this is just their daily item to get their panties twisted over.

IMO, its not the fact that they changed it, its the fact they did it without telling everyone! I don't mind them "giving" me a unified email address, what I mind is that they gave themselves priority over my other email addresses and placed it on my profile without asking.

Second to that, what do you think they are going to do with this? Monetize it! It's all about being able to attach more ads to your messages. TBH no one on my FB page contacts me through email, but when/if they do FB wants to be able to ad ads.

PSA - CHECK for missing emails!

Facebook e-mail mess: Address books altered; e-mail lost | Internet & Media - CNET News

This is a big deal because everyone who has a mobile device or other software that synchronizes their address book with their FB contacts is in danger of blowing away the perfectly good e-mail address they had for you and replacing it with your FB e-mail address.

    SNIP

If you have any software or apps that sync your contacts or address books with Facebook (think home computer, devices, phones, iOS 6) check your settings. Now.

No problem. I don't sync. Why would I want 300+ people being added to my phone book that I never call?

How many of your friends do not? Hm? While YOUR data may be intact, what about the run of the mill clueless guy/gal who relies on the tech to keep them safe?

Had mine synced, but changed that. Even though I don't call many of them, their basic info is in their if I needed to get ahold of them for what ever reason. Even with that said about half of my facebook contacts were never synced, only thing I can think of is those ones already changed their privacy settings for what is visible to their friends.

edit: had to correct a typo, damn auto correct on the phone works, but sometimes messes up a word or two here and there. am finding I am able to type out almost as fast on the phone with a single finger and auto correct (even with out it, 75% of the time I'm able to type with out any errors) as I can with a keyboard on desktop PC.

    It's never been good.

The latest version has been giving me memory issues, so to speak. It won't remember pictures correctly, so when I would scroll down the news feed, the wrong person's avatar would be attached. Oh, and my avatar was the Target symbol???
