Man orders TV from Amazon, receives gun!
"it happens more than u realize"
One of the comments:Seth Horvitz placed an order for a new HDTV, but ended up with a brand new assault rifle. It isn’t Amazon’s fault since they were not the seller in this instance. Seth was more than a little surprised when a Sig Sauer SIG716 semi-automatic assault weapon arrived on his doorstep. As the owner of a Gold level merchant on Amazon I can tell u it happens more than u realize. Has to do with mis-matching of product MPN and UPC on Amazon. When you have thousands of products in your data feed it's impossible to see if Amazon matches your offers to the correct product page. If your order system is fairly automated the whole thing happens with little human intervention and Seller doesn't even know until customer tells them. They say technology slows down for no one. I know it outruns my wallet. I figure its because my wallet isn't light enough yet.

... Am I the only person that has a problem with that? It shouldn't happen at all! What the hell kind of quality control is that? That seller shouldn't be allowed to sell for a certain period of time as a punishment.
Well... actually, I don't know who's fault it is... but it's messed up. No?
Imagine if a kid opened that package fishing for his Connect-4.
Connect-4 to the skullcap! *BOOM* like that! Yeah... sounds like fun, sign me up.
No but seriously. So wrong.“Arguing with anonymous strangers on the Internet is a sucker's game because they almost always turn out to be—or to be indistinguishable from—self-righteous sixteen-year-olds possessing infinite amounts of free time.” ― Cryptonomicon

I knew it. Vern totally screwed us all on this one... well, everyone except you. You were smart enough to see through the lies. Whir, can we ban Vern now for being... for... lying??

Edit - No. Seriously he's not lying. It's that site. Epi is right, Amazon doesn't sell guns. They do sell air guns though. Pop an eye out with those things...

Ok? What I meant was that 3rd party merchants don't sell firearms through Amazon either (in addition to what you said; this is obvious). Example that lead to me writing my first post... if you search for "sig gun," you won't see Amazon or their third party marketplace sellers selling actual guns via their site (I apologize if I grouped that into "Amazon doesn't sell," I actually meant third party merchants on Amazon and Amazon directly; that's what I consider "Amazon").
Could the seller sell firearms outside of amazon and mix up orders with an amazon customer? I guess so. As is evident here. Example. Seller usually sells firearms at a store as well as poptart, toys, etc. On Amazon's marketplace he sells children's toys only. Could someone buy a toy and mistakenly get a gun? It's possible.
I mean to say that one of those third party merchants should incur some form of penalty for this tragic mix up (a penalty imposed by Amazon, banning them from selling for a certain time period or something like that). That's all. No penalty for Amazon, you're right, it isn't their fault. But quality control of third party merchants is their concern. Their response should be appropriate toward the seller.
If I didn't make that clear last time, I apologize.
