$70 spent at shop today, but finally got that exhaust secured and no more banging around, replaced 4 of the donuts that attach hangers/exhaust to car, 4 out of 6 anyways, seems only 4 in town between 2 of the half dozen parts places in town... at least right ones for my car.

But fixed and now a bit quieter driving around town and area on bumpy roads.

The weather won't be nice for the next 10 days. We don't need more rain, but we're about to get a lot of it!

You know what that means? We'll be getting a lot more rain too. At least it looks like it won't be snow this time.

    Oh, and...

Shy said the word "donuts" and now I can't stop thinking about them.

Hello all. Can someone please tell me why dealerships are typically the scum of the earth and always useless?

Had my first ever check engine light today after a cold start and driving less than two miles... ran the code myself and it was the elusive (well, generic) p0420 which is emissions related (usually o2 sensor or cat converter). Took it down to the dealership because I want to confirm. Turned out to be the rear o2 sensor, and since I'm outside my 5year/60k bumper to bumper it's not covered and I had to pay a $50 diagnosis fee due to it not being covered.

Considering I give them business for every thing outside of airfilters I figured the least they could do was waive the fee considering I'm 6,000 miles outside of that warranty and still under the 100k mile/10 year powertrain warranty.

Nope. And the o2 sensor doesn't fall under the federal 8 yr / 80k emissions warranty, but the 2 yr / 24k one so no luck there either.

I mean, how can a sensor that determins if the engine runs rich or lean, with lean obviously having the potential to do damage - not fall under a powertrain warranty? It directly affects the powertrain by determining how it runs.

Let's just say the more peaceful customer had the mouth of a sailor regarding paying a fee for this situation. Also declined them fixing it for their outrageous price and told them I'd do it myself.

I'm not going to pay 200-300 for them to literally screw in and plug in a $70 part.

They cleared the code and it hasn't come on since. I'm thinking it was a sensor hiccup anyways as they said the code was historically and not current. Performance for me was fine otherwise and if the code come on at all I'd be none the wiser.

That said, only thing I can think of that may have thrown it was using lucas fuel conditioner as it may have fouled the o2?

Keeping an eye on it in the meantime.
