Well I come from the days when we did not have sun block. But as a boating family we would go out for weeks on a 25 to 35 foot boat. there really was no where to hide from the sun. Occasionally you would get the weather just right and you would fry. This happened to me several times as a youth. I am fair skinned I would wear T shirts to protect myself but I would still burn on the exposed surfaces.

2nd degree burns were frequent during the summers of my youth. I feel as if my parents did nothing wrong.

As far as the whole second degree burn thing. Tanning is not much better for you. the risk of cancer even from a nice summer tan is not perceivably worse than a good old fashioned 2nd degree burn.

1. Any form of burning has potential consequences to the skin, especially in children. There is no excuse for not sunblocking a child.

2. Depriving a child of a Parent for a period of time has been shown to have Psychological and Psychosocial consequences.

Who is right here guys ?????

Who Knows.

I simply hate when everyone seems to get on their moral high ground and decide that they are such good judges of what they should have done.

How many Irish people are here on this board. You know the ones who burn really bad.

I personally burn in about an hour. I can burn 2nd degree aka blistering in 2 hours under the right conditions.

Going to a fair with kids can produce some surprising results. You start a day and you misjudge your kids base tan and kvala sun burn.

I get sick of this monday morning quarter backing. Your kid is much more likely to die from driving with you on your way to daycare of from pepsi poisoning then from sun burn. If not die at least have statistical years removed as a culture.

Don't get me wrong. I have only mistakely given my kids mild sunburns and I feel terrible about that mistake. I endeavor to do my best but sometimes the sunscreen does not last as long as it should. Or you end up doing something that you did not plan. Fair skinned kids like mine are real easy to burn. Well that is except for my oldest. She got all the italian blood in the new generation. I even feel guilty for letting her get that deep dark base tan.

But stuff happens and all the busy bodies need mind their own business. I am sorry but broken bones and bruises are the only time when others should get involved on the behalf of other peoples kids.

Rant off.

Cool

I don't have this problem and love being out in the sun.
