Einstein's Riddle
I don't know if this has been posted before, but a friend emailed it to me and I know you all love riddles.
Paul
This is solvable….I swear
1. There are 5 houses in 5 different colours. In each house lives a person with a different nationality.
2. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet.
3. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar or drink the same beverage.
The questions is “WHO OWNS THE FISH?”
Facts
The Brit lives in the red house.
The Swede keeps dogs as pets
The Dane drinks tea.
The green house is on the left of the white house.
The green house’s owner drinks coffee.
The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
The man living in the centre house drinks milk.
The Norwegian lives in the first house.
The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
The man who keeps the horse lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill
The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
The German smokes Prince.
The Norwegian lives next to the blue house
The man who smokes blends has a neighbour who drinks water.
Einstein wrote this riddle this century. He said 98% of the world could not solve it.
IT CAN BE DONE!! BE PART OF THE 2% THAT COULD!!

1+1=3 is easier... come on people!
Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

6 erasers later I have finally got it.
You suck! for posting such a challenge.
Who will pm me with their logic. Mine was so disjointed I do
not know if I could ever tell someone how to answer.
Basically used the detective motto. when you eliminate the impossible you have found the answer. or was that spocks in star trek.

That was Spock Epidemic.
"When we eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbably, must be the truth." (OK, I'll stop showing off about how much of a geek I am.
) But as a side-riddle, can anybody name the episode in which this was said?
If you want, I'll scan the page I used and send it to you with a brief explaination. PM me your e-mail addy. Once you get it set up right, it's fairly easy. Excellent puzzle for logical thinking, which is probably why they used it in your geometry class Bob.
I do think one clue needs clarification, as that's the one spot where you don't use logic, but an assumption.
Took me 1/2 hour to give in and resort to the assumption, which happened to be correct.
About 5% of the people in the world can't think.
Another 5% can think and do.
The remaining 90% can think, but don't.

I'm wondering how many people bothered to work it out instead og going the google way...About 5% of the people in the world can't think.
Another 5% can think and do.
The remaining 90% can think, but don't.

Wasn't that from the scene where they determined that the Bird of Prey had been blown up by another, cloaked Bird of Prey?
It's a famous qoute, alright, but it wasn't originally Spock's.
Oh, and I did solve the riddle, although it did take a little while...

Epidemic, if you used a Quattro Pro spreadsheet like me, you'd have saved on erasers.

Not to burst anyones bubble but I think Einstein was wrong again.
So far about 98% of people have solved it.
Not so bad as he thought. Either that or we are much brighter now then they were at the turn of the century.
