| Budget Deficit Suggestions....HELP!!!
I need some idea's how to pay off national debt for a report. this is what i have so far:
1. Stop unnecesary wars.
2. A tax on cars that do not get more than 15 mpg city/ and 20 mpg highway.
3. The social security will apply to every dollar you make, instead of up to $75,000. The money after $75,000 will go to pay off budget deficit.
Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Tell everybody in Florida you're giving them a 50% revenue enhancement (i.e., tax increase). They can't count anyway.
Tax all lottery winnings at 90%. Heck, they'll still have lots left over.
Triple the taxes on vices (well, at least the ones I don't indulge in), cigarettes, hard liquor, all beer except Guinness, SUVs, hunting licenses, power boats, etc. |

Gasoline tax should be a percentage, not a fixed number of cents per gallon (so it will go up with the price). Ditto with tobacco. (They should both be a whole lot higher, too -- there's not much incentive to save fuel when gas is as cheap in real terms as it is here, and extremely costly cigarettes also cut down on smoking.)

I don't get it, Theo.
Hey, how about an extra tax on anybody that buys more than 20 gallons at a time! |

Legalize some drugs
The money that is spent trying to keep them out could go to growing them here. This would in turn create jobs reducing the unemployment rate. They would then be sold and taxed like h#ll. This money then is put back into the economy.
So money form the sale of the drugs, plus money that will be left over from trying to keep the drugs out would be going back into the economy or deficit.

| Sorry, i wont use that one. I'm totally against the legalization of drugs. In fact, I believe that anyone arrested for drug use should be put in a mandatory 1 year rehabilitacion. I think this system would help get people off drugs, and stop wasting money on ways that dont work. |
