It has been a long time since I've been around, and for that I apologize. All in all I've been kinda busy lately and have found my surfing time dwindling to historic lows. Like the subject says, however, it is my turn to go now.
I will be leaving my cozy barracks room at NAS JRB New Orleans Sunday March 9 for Sigonella, Sicilly! I will be going on a detatchment with my squadron VR-54, US Navy C-130's in support of fleet operations in Europe and possibly the Middle East. My job won't be that difficult - fuel, fuel samples, launch and recoever the plane and help other shops with their maintenance. The only catch is if we will be back in time for me to get married June 7, way back in McKinney, TX. We are supposed to be gone at least 29 days, and max of 90. If it gets prolonged, I am going to be looking to fly home from Europe at the last minute - and I don't even have enough groomsmen yet! 2 of my brothers (aka groomsmen) are in the Army. One is about to be deployed - he leaves before March 8, we just don't know where to! The other is in school and may have graduated and moved on to his command just a month before, so he may not be able to make it now!
My Fiance isn't so keen on me leaving, either. She is concerned that I will be in harm's way or that I won't make it home in time. I keep trying to assure her I will, but you never do know. I did purchase Wedding Insurance which covers military deployments and such if we have to move the wedding, but I am hoping and praying I spent $150.00 for peace of mind only and not because it will actually get used.
Anyway, I just wanted to keep you guys up to date and get some support - I could always count on the gang at Techimo, thanks for everything.
