Im going to be getting a new pup soon---

I havnt had a dog in 40 years---probably a male Jack Russell Terrier @ 8 weeks of age---my concern is---do you/would you have your male dog neutered?
Im not worried about him jumpin the neighbors pet---but temperment in the long run, does he need em/or not?

    (Yes im serious)

If he can't jump the neighbors pet he's destined to a life of misery.
Neuter him. Remember what you don't know won't hurt you. (or in his case, if he has no reason to want he won't )

i said other.. i think unless he comes that way.. or if there is a chance he might get out, or another dog might get in, you may as well let him keep his assets

Wow! Congrats on the move! Although for being so centrally located where you are you have a sweet set up there.

Wow, TKOP, I remember driving by there last summer (the Sawdust Festival) , and wondering how people managed to put those homes there. I was amazed that they were there in the first place. You have one of those? Wow, how nice, and how tragic they're going away.

Ahem. Neuter the little guy? FOOOOO!!! Don't do it.

Think of the comic potential when this little dog starts hittin' on a female German Shepard! Kinda like a tugboat makin' moves on the Queen Mary!

Seriously, though, I hate hearing about male dogs being neutered. Perhaps I had a past life as a dog.

    Actually.....uh, oh.

Bob Barker says to get him neutered... what more advice could you ask for

I voted yes neuter him. His temperment is not going to change one way or another because he is neutered. However a responsible pet owner takes care of thier own, that means getting them fixed so they don't go around knocking up all the bitches in the neighborhood.

Why is it always the female that has to do the "protecting" Geezz.

    Get him neutered.

i just noticed the wording of the poll is strange:

    Neuter or NOT?

Yes he needs em---you nutball 2 18.18% (this yes means no, do not neuter him)

NO he will be better natured without 4 36.36% (this no means yes, neuter him)

at least, i think thats what it means..

    lol, sorry neo ~

    Neuter or NOT?

Yes he needs em---you nutball 2 18.18% (this yes means no, do not neuter him) em being his balls
so, "Do not neuter him, because he needs em"

NO he will be better natured without 4 36.36% (this no means yes, neuter him) without his balls
so, "Do neuter him, he will be better natured without"

-- pardon my use of the word balls

Knotty be sensible. We are talking about dogs, not male human beings.

I only made the comment of why is it always the females that has to do it all because it seems that way. its the responbility of both. same goes with dogs, responsiblity in thier own dogs weather they are female or male. Just look ath the statics of how many dogs get put to sleep a year because they keep breeding without protection. Not like a dog can put a rubber on ya know.

Well then jacob I guess my post more clarifies what my real answer is.

should be neutered unless you are planning to breed the dog for specific purposes. but for just a housepet. neuter him.
