Well, it sure looks kewl! Anyone see the commercial??
It is supposed to send a signal the the ACD (automatic call dialer) that is dialing your number from the call center.
This signal is supposed to remove your number from the ACD.
Wait, that sounds a little far fetched doesn't it?
It's at Radio Shack surely someone works there..
I get several calls a day from this junk! Most of them from AT&T Grrr! |

Try this surreal, record this if you can, while talking to them, tell them that if they call you one more time you will charge them with harrassment, that usually ends it for them, and let them know you are recording this. |

I just started talking over a solicitor the other day and said "please put me on your do not call list". They hung up on me. Next time I'll be sure to get the person's name.
If anyone has tried the tele-zapper please let us know! Seems kind of pricey if I recall. |

| Florida has an alternative
You can pay $10 and have your phone number placed on the "NO SOLICITATION" list. It's run by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (!?) and it works! After the initial outlay, it costs $5 a year to remain on the list.
Best money I ever spent.
Anyone foolish enough to try to step around this risks a hefty fine. |

Yup, I saw those little buggers at Best Buy while Christmas shopping. Sounds like neat (long overdue) idea. |

AT&T has been calling and hanging up on my answering machine 3 and 4 times a night plus getting ahold of me 2 or 3 times a week.
I've asked to be remove and I'm told it takes a month. I ask for a superviser and then they hang up!
Wells Fargo sold My Cell Phone Number! Now I'm getting sales calls on it! I changed the number yesterday.... Sheesh!
I may break down and get caller ID and not accept calls from blocked numbers. That will do it too.... |

I think telemarketers are the scum of the earth, next to lawyers, of course.
Therfore, I feel it is entirely ethical to treat them any way you feel like.
Me, I like to let 'em get a little bit into the spiel, then scream "OH MY GOD!!!" at the top of my lungs, and hang up!!
Takes no particular mental effort from me, plus I get to scream, plus the bugger will spend the rest of the day wondering ... "what on earth was THAT about?"
I sleep like a baby. |

what the telezapper does is send a signal back to the computer database saying you line has been permanently disconnected. i have had at least a hundred leave my store, and only one came back, and he didnt hook it up right, or had some sort of problem with how he was trying to set it up. shoot, we had people gettin their name on a list to pick them up as we got them in. |

Dear Flash4Master,
Well, okay, but the way I figure it is:
a) I get to vent at a telemarketer; in fact, ABUSE the rascal,
b) doesn't cost me a dime!
c) I don't mind the phone ringing, heck, my daughters usually grab it anyway (they are trained to abuse telemarketers )
I'm sure I left some things out---Oh, did I mention I get to SCREAM at the a******?
Yours, Knothead |
