My wifes Achilles Heel

AC has had foot problems for years (diabetes). But this time she has decided to follow a family tradition: Heel Spurs.

Thats when the little bone that forms the heel of your foot starts growing. An X-ray looks like (sort of, slightly) a cowboys spur.

But get this: They are painful! Just ask Babydingbat, she had to deal with these a coule of years back. At the time I thought that she was exagerating the pain. Later I got straightened out.

Anyway, while AC is in the other room enjoying a bout with her new (and improved!) pain killers I wrote this thread. I was hoping that some of you might have some words of encouragement for her, or at least sympothey.

PS: Yes my typos and spelling are getting worse. Blame it on Mozilla, they promised me a spellchecker, darn it.

Angelcat, sounds like your achilles heel is your achilles heel!! OUCH!!

Take two glasses of my favorite painkiller, Guinness, and post back in the morning.

Seriously, we all hope you're better real soon.

Diabetes can affect the extremities in terms of blood flow to fingers and especially feet. People with Diabetes can have a hard go of it when it comes to their toes.

That's true. My mother had diabetes for years (and treated for it) and her toes on her left foot turned black. They had to be amputated. That was when she's in her mid 70s.

I lost my grandmother from a minor cut to the leg caused by a stick while she was walking down the sidewalk to get her newspaper. She had diabetes. The wound wouldn't heal and gange green set in and she lost her leg btk. She lost her will to go on after that.

Man, that was 25 years ago.

Knot said it best. Hang in there, AC! My thoughts (for what little they're worth) are for you right now. Diabetes can be a "tough row to hoe."
