Seeing as we are moving Iraq from a socialist system to capitalist democracy, money is a big deal. Having a viable currency is another step to Iraq being independent.

There's plenty of other good news Theo. Quit twisting things! And you missed the point. Do you still want Saddam's face on the bills?
Good job, friend-of-friends!

What good news?

tony_j15, what am I "twisting"?
Of course I don't want Saddam's face on the bills. The point is, this is no big deal. It's hardly a major milestone on the way to stability and democracy, as Bush seems to be saying.
sixf00t4, it's Franz Kafka. He seems appropriate for the moment.

tony: Start listing some good news. It's nice that they are getting some new money, but this shouldn't be the biggest worry that the Iraqis have.

Well, maybe the Administration is so devoid of any good news that this is a big deal for Bush.

How many more POSITIVE stories would you like? .......... There are more..... LOTS more.... open you eyes and read. Quit thinking that the liberal media is the ONLY true source of information..........

Funny they are all from Military sources.
Kinda like judge, jury and prosecutor all rolled into one.

de-valuing the old money is a good step in the fight. it will help deprive the oppisition of funds.

Then again, it's hard to find a news article that isn't completely biased.

Do you think the Military spews out less grabage?
Do you think its likely that the Pentagon will allow everything to be reported?
Do you think the Pentagon will say anything to make itself look bad?
Do you think the Pentagon will say its failing?
Bottom line: Everyone puts their own spin. You have to read diverse reports and then form your own judgement. Just like the media tells untruths, so does the Military/Pentagon.

shahani.......
YOU asked "WHAT GOOD NEWS" .......... I gave you some....... as asked. YOU never said that they had to come from a DOOM and GLOOM liberal media source.
DO YOU REALLY think the liberal media wants to report ANYTHING good as far as Iraq goes........ ?? NO .. they want people to think it's going horrible over there, that way they can get a liberal democrat elected president.
---------------------
Do you think the Military spews out less grabage?
Absolutley i do. It's not just a republican army..... The liberal news media has a DEFINATE agenda.
Common sense........ of course not. BUT...they did allow the media to go with them this time, even the LIBERAL media.Do you think its likely that the Pentagon will allow everything to be reported?
No....... not intentionally, but then do you say stuff to make yourself look bad intentionally...... no.... but sometimes you succeed anyway.Do you think the Pentagon will say anything to make itself look bad?
It's NOT failing........ think what you want. It's becoming pointless to try to get you to see anybody's opinion except Theo's.Do you think the Pentagon will say its failing?
Please follow your own advise. I read alot.....even the liberal drivel. I DO form my own opinions, and base them off the most reliable sources i can. I would tend to think http://www.centcom.mil/ is a much more reliable source than say.... oh some media giant that HID SADDAMS atrocities so that they could STAY in Iraq........ yeah, no bias or slants from your media sources either, eh?Bottom line: Everyone puts their own spin. You have to read diverse reports and then form your own judgement. Just like the media tells untruths, so does the Military/Pentagon.
What I'm getting at is this, your going to see doom and gloom everywhere you look, no matter what I tell you or try to get through your head. Fine. Perhaps I should start posting 50 positive threads a day to the community forum to offset the negative crap that keeps showing up here.
What's not positive about the stories I linked to ?? What makes you think that they AREN'T true?
Sounds like we are doing such HORRIBLE things there......MOSUL, IRAQ (Sept. 18, 2003) – A Company, 877th Engineer Battalion, a National Guard unit out of Alabama and attached to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) began pouring concrete today for a play area in the backyard of the Mosul Girls’ Orphanage.
The concrete pad cost $4,400 to make and is scheduled to take three days to build. Once completed, soccer goal posts and mobile basketball hoops will be added.
Whatever is left of the money available to the engineers to build the pad will be used to buy toys and games for the children.

I agree it's not ground breaking, however it is was one of the logical next steps.
