| Big College Football Day Tomorrow!
"Survival Saturday," it's going to be a very interesting day.
Oddly, the only game I want to see won't be on TV. Michigan vs MSU won't be on TV, and a morning talk show will be on ABC instead.
My cable television provider must hate me.

I didn't want Miami to lose. They were the closest team that had a shot at OU.
Bleh Ohio State won. |

The UM-MSU game was awesome. Michigan dominated the whole game except 2 plays, but it still came down to the final few seconds.
Hopefully USC moves to #2 in the BCS. I picked USC to go all the way at the start of the season. |

it was a strange day for us. we ended up winning...somehow. but in the first quarter our QB (who is supposed to be the best in the nation) threw 4 interceptions and only threw for a total of 400 yards. very strange. also an aside: recently our teamed was ranked with the number 1 offense in the nation and the worst defense in the nation can't remember who did the rankings tho. |

Gomer is strangely quiet ...
| Gomer had a busy weekend.
Friday night I went to the MSU vs. Ferris State hockey game at Munn Arena. MSU DOMINATED the defending CCHA champs 8-0 scoring 4 goals in the first 6 minutes of the game.
As for the football game.... I had seats on the 45 (upper deck). MSU's D-line couldn't close the gaps and Perry took advantage of them. MSU also lost their starting safety and D-end in the first quarter. Defense wins football games and lack thereof loses them.
I won't stoop to the level of the typical UM fan and blame the officials for the loss... and I was at the game myself and did not have the benefit of replay save for what the show on the jumbotron. (BTW, Big 10 now has a rule that controversial calls shall not be replayed in the stadium). There were a couple of pass int. calls at the end and 1 earlier that had me scratching my head. The worst call at the end was not replayed on the jumbotron which has me thinking that my scratching was warranted. I'd have to see some game footage before I got too upset.
MSU has nothing to be ashamed of. We are tied for first place in the Big 10 and still have an excellent chance of making the Rose Bowl. We lost to a great team assembled by an institution often lacking in ethics when it comes to athletics past and present (Marlin Jackson pleads down from a charge of felonious assault and receives a 1 game suspension, against powerhouse Houston). They have the best players money can buy there. Seeing as how MSU was predicted to finish second from the bottom with a new coach, there is no shame to be had with what happened yesterday.
Following the game I left Spartan Stadium and headed to Big Rapids (2+ hours) for the second MSU vs. Ferris State hockey game. As I was fully decked out in my Spartan hockey attire, many Ferris fans thought it would be cute to ask how the football game went. I just smiled and asked them if they happened to catch the score of the hockey game the night before and they quieted right down. We went on the take it to Ferris again 4-2 in a very hostile arena. Ferris has one of the most vulgar and wound up crowds I know of and I love it. Great seats for that game right in front of the boards.
Drove back to E.L. last after the game and was going to try to go to the MSU vs. Harlem Globetrotters game today, but was too exhausted so I just spent the day on the couch.
Disappointing loss, but oh well... all is well in the trailer parks of Michigan and the mullets are probably gleaming brighter than ever. |
