Gundam Seed - Thoughts

alrighty, well, when i was in washington, i heard the horrible news that gundam seed had been licensed, to my suprise, my friend ........hey look, elvis!...........
so last night, through means unknown, i watched episodes 37-50 of the series (6-7) hours, to finish it off.. (of course, after, i had to watch more stuff, so i got 0 sleep)

anyway, my thoughts:
rating: 1-10 ~ 10 best
8.5

i have not seen any other gundam series besides wing, and now seed, so i have limited knowledge of the others, i heard seed was a remake of the original, but, as far as i know, its all knew, so -

thoughts: the story was great, twists and turns, and moments where i thought "i knew that was going to happen, but not this. its a mecha anime of course, which i happen to like when done properly, and this was one done very well. the animation was done very well for this type of show, the voice acting was very good. the character progression was very involving, and it plus the excellent story to begin with kept me wanting to watch more and more. the music was also very good, most of it done by tm revolution, and some other people whos names i am not sure of. there are four opening songs, and three endings (if i remember right, kinda tired), the third opening was my favorite, as well as the second ending. the "image" songs were very good too, especially one i think was done by tmr, but i dont know its name.. anyway, if anyone has seen it, i would like to know how you thought about it

good story, good characters, good music, good ending = good

I saw the series! The beginning kinda dragged....and I hate it when they "waste" episodes to do recaps of what happened. But from episode 37-48, it was better action, and the last 2 episodes were just super fast! So much happened. Too bad Calamity, Raider and Forbidden were destroyed! I was hoping they'd turn "good" like Duel and Buster. Freedom was grossly overpowered, but it's Gundam Too bad Mwu died too....but "he was the man that could make the impossible, possible" soooo, he may be back in Gundam Seed 2.

My 2 fav songs: Meteor and the one that played when they were escaping Orb before they blew themselves up.

Overall, I enjoyed the series. Can't wait for 2!

I will toss in a score of 6.0, as I was not overly impressed. The art quality was good, but Gundam Wing has a superior plot IMHO.

I will probably soon start watching the After War Gundam X series. If you want to watch a superb Gundam series, check out Turn A Gundam. The English subtitling sucks, but it is probably one of the best takes on the Gundam multiverse.

Check out the recently re-edited versions of the Turn A movies as well, though they could be hard to find in any format, plus I have not seen any fansubs/dubs for these yet. Then again, I haven't exactly looked too hard.

Never seen Turn A Gundam? Get out more, or well, atleast visit the local anime shop!

The pathetic dubbing of Wing did not help, so that probably killed your interest in the series. Then again, the sub quality of most Gundam series leaves much to be desired as well. Some of the fansubs are superior IMO.

Happy Lesson DVDs and tapes should be promptly broke, burned, microwaved, drove over, etc.; you get my point. I would rate the series in negative numbers if possible.

I have a tight grading scale when it comes to anime. I have seen too many, thus the bulk of the latest series seems to copy or rehash older plot lines. Accordingly, I often award rather low scores to all but the most inspiring works.

What a coincidence...I just recieved Turn A Gundam as a gift and Char's Counter Attack is on the way. My gf bought them for me. Haven't watched Turn A yet...I have parts of Gundam X and ZZ, haven't watched them either.

I thought Wing was okay....I actually liked Seed better.

If you can past the dismal image quality of ZZ and Char's Counter Attack, you will definitely enjoy the underlying story and character development. Just remember the age of these series when watching them.

Has anyone seen Mobile Suit Victory Gundam? It was a TV series that followed the Mobile Suit Gundam F91 movie. I haven't seen the episodes or movie. I am curious, as many reviewers have rated this series as "excellent."

im probably just too friendly grading cause most of it i like, it takes something awful to get a low scrore, while the better ones earn the highest of the high percents ;P

havnt seen that either rob, my brother has char's counter attack though.. never seen it though

Other way around for me. I have been watching anime since the 80s, back when you had to dig through import shops to find bootleg tapes. I have seen so much anime that the new works all tend to blur together for me.

For example, does anyone remember downloading/printing scripts from gopher and ftp sites to watch anime movies because we had no such thing as fansubs back in the day?
