Honey and Alcohol
Hey guys, just wondering if any of you know of any Alcoholic bevarages made out of honey.
I don't mean mixing alcoholic drinks with honey, but actual alcohol made out of honey, like wine being made out of Grapes.
I don't even know if it could be done, but it should be consdiering that Honey contains fructose just like grapes.-=Marcin=-

It also comes cloaked in compassion.

With the high sugar content a little fermenting agent (yeast maybe) could produce large amounts of alcohol.Originally posted by JacobM5727

mead: argh drink the drink of the heros

November 23rd, 2003, 09:01 AM #8No, it isn't thick, it is actually thin and watery, but in a snifter slightly warmed by your hand it is a wonderful drink. If you want you can warm it in a microwave, but only for a few seconds otherwise you get it too hot and remove some of the alcohol.Originally posted by JacobM5727

I was watching " The 13th Warrior" and they offered the Arab (bandaras) a drink and he said he couldn't drink fermented grape, and the viking sid it was made from honey.

Haha, how did you know?
Everytime I watch that movie I start wondering about the whole alcohol and honey thing. This time I actually did something about it and asked instead of forgetting.
Now its time to go out and get some Mead.
How strong is Mead anyway?-=Marcin=-

You can make your own...
Get some honey and dilute it. Add about a shot glass of the last swig of a Guinnes Stout or other (non-pastuerized) beer with yeast on the bottom.
Or go to a brewery shop and buy some yeast.
Pruno can be made pretty good the same way using sugary juices from canned fruit. Handy knowledge for dry countries...

I would argue that I'd rather have a more competitive corporate tax rate in exchange for a more progressive personal income tax with many more brackets to more evenly spread the onus. Businesses do...
