| Anti-Christian Bias in NY? Quote: |
"Andrea Skoros sued the New York City public school system after being told her kids' Nativity scene could not be a part of the holiday display although a Hanukkah menorah and the star and crescent representing Islam could be exhibited."
| If true, this is discrimination amplified; and shows off the true intentions of the secular anti-religious zealots: they are bigots who are almost exclusively anti-Christian not necessarily anti-religious. HERE! |

Here's another version from the Associated Press: http://www.freedomforum.org/template...cumentID=17348
Please, please, wallie. Don't make these wild leaps of logic. Which 'anti-religious zealots' are you referring to? Do they have names? Who exactly is 'they?'
Certainly a depiction of Jesus is a religious symbol and should be prohibited in public schools under the establishment clause of the first amendment. The other question is whether Hanukkah menorahs and the Islamic star and crescent are also religious symbols. In my view they are and also should be prohibited. End of story.

"they" can be clearly defined, but I promise you dont really wanna hear or know about it, lol.
All references to "Christ"mas will have to go, from songs etc...simple matter of time.....momentum is gathering, wont be stopped now at all...matter of time b4 "God" comes off the money also.

A Christmas tree is not overtly religious. It’s more of a carry over of the pagan celebration of the Winter Solstice. The Christians basically borrowed this celebration in combination with the celebration of St. Nicolas (Dec. 6 I think) as the celebration of the birth of Christ. Is there a secular symbol of Hanukkah like there is for Christmas? If there were it would be the Menorah. The Star of David would clearly be a Jewish religious symbol. The same can be said about the Star and Crescent. It isn’t a particularly religious symbol. It has more to do with the tradition of the Ottoman Empire.
So, one could argue that neither a Christmas tree, a Menorah, or the Star and Crescent are overtly religious, but a nativity scene is. The easiest solution though is to go 100% unquestionably secular and completely separate religion and state. |

| I don't understand. This implies anyone anti-christian is a secular anti-religious zealot?
Like some people thing questioning Bush is unpatriotic.
The words paranoid or conspiracy come to mind. |

| Apt description of yourself.
IMO, religion is part of life. We all have some form of it. Trying to pull it out of everything is like sucking the air out of a room. It inplodes and all that is left is dead, stagnant, rotten crap. Allow the nativity scene(its merely a historical depiction). |

Isn't NY the same state that has 'gay only' schools? What about trying to force the 'Daddy's New Boyfriend' curriculum onto students. Is there any separation of church and state in that?
No, if there is a separation it works both ways. The state cannot force its secular crud as 'the' social morality anymore that the church should. But then the problem is who defines morality?
Answer: society does and the state backed anti-Christian zealots march on as the neo-iconoclasts attempting to purge society of its former Christian heritage.
Certain political factions in NY have been champions of trashing Christianity.
(Hillary fit soooo perfectly in they elected her despite her not even being from there.)
This was out and out anti-Christian bias, and the school district should get its posterior sued. |

As I said earlier, if NY is establishing one religion over the other it is wrong. The remedy is no religious symbols.
Please give me an example of Sen. Clinton trashing Christianity. |
