Philips messed up my TV
Ok, Thursday I had my Philips 55" HDTV serviced to get rid of a blurry picture on the left side, esp. during HDTV shows. He came out LATE Thursday evening and spent about 1/2 with these lines on my screen adjusting them. Everything seemed fine when he left, but it was so late I didn't watch any TV. (He didn't show up till around 7:45pm). Friday I didn't watch any TV (had the flu, still do). Last night I decided to turn it on and now I have 2 vertical GREEN lines right in the middle of the screen which appear to be burned into the screen!!!!! They will not go away! I am P@@@@d about this! They are supposed to fix the problem not make it worse....... I tried to call Philips and they are not open with any technical help during the weekends. So now I have to call Monday. How do I go about this? There were NO lines until he came and adjusted the TV. Now I have these 2 vertical GREEN lines right in the middle of the screen. Should they be at fault and bring out a new screen to fix this if it is a burn in problem from sitting there with these lines on my set for 1/2 or maybe longer adjusting it???
What to do...............

I wouldn't jump to conclusions and go off half-cocked. Call them and complain that by the time you recovered from an illness to watch the TV after he was supposed to have fixed it, this is what you found when you finally turned it on. If the thing is still under warranty then they should replace/repair it, no problem. If it's not under warranty then it's going to be hard to pin it on them since you were already having problems with it. Did he make any comments about the trouble he found or about any you may have down the road? Have you looked at his notes on the service ticket.

It's under warranty till 1-26-05. No comments made. He came out, adjusted the set then left. It took him a good while to adjust while these lines were on my tv. Also I now notice that my "Intelesense" doesn't work during HDTV playback. It just brings up an adjustment screen which was never there before. The only problem I had was it was blurry on the left side of the screen. When he left it seemed ok because I was only focusing on making sure that side was corrected. Then it was shut off. Turned back on last evening just to find I have these nice GREEN lines permanantly etched into the middle of my screen.

Call and compalin that the unit needs to be replaced, PERIOD! There should be no discussion as to why except that it's been worked on before and now you're getting other problems. Be demanding but polite and respectful. If they say that they want to try to fix it again let them know that if the problems aren't absolutely fixed this time, you absolutely want a new one or your money back because they sold you a lemon. Be firm. BTW, for the future, you should ALWAYS get face-to-face feedback from a service tech to expalin what he found, etc. Also, when you talk to them, play up the fact that you went all weekend without the use of the unit and missed some very important "games".

Looks like I'm gonna have to... Makes me mad!! All i wanted fixed was the blurry part of the screen and now this happens. Don't even know where it came from! It just appeared. Not very happy. They better fix it perfectly with NO problems and or replace it! Guess I'll watch tv in the darn bedroom.

Anyone know where I can get info on how to replace the screen or how a burn in happens like this? 2 vertical lines (one seemed to stretch just by turning it on this morning) now I have part of a line at the top of the tv.
what exactly happens to the screen part when a burn occurs?

magnets? pass any speakers by(or in front of) the screen??
maybe the tech had one of those magnetic screwdrives near the screen?
i dunno, just a thought.
btw.... i agree w/ toad. dont jump through hoops trying to get it serviced. just get it(the WHOLE thing not just the screen) replaced.

No, magnets, have speakers on each side, but they have been there for some time. This happened after he serviced the tv. Turned it on, then noticed there were those lines in the middle of the tv. Not sure what to do about getting it "REPLACED" because I think they don't make that model anymore. It was purchased on 1-25-02. They have since gone to 99% wide screen. More than likely they will have to replace "WHATEVER" it is that is causing those lines.... Also, I cannot use the "INTELESENSE" while I'm in High Definition any more. A bunch of "+" come up, which they never did before. It would run the "INTELESENSE" whether I was in HD or Analog viewing.
So, mad!!! Poor Poor service......
