yeah...craigk's advice is best...get a hold of your undergrad catalogue...it will tell you what classes are required.

as for advisors getting paid to advise, yes it sucks that they get paid for it and don't do it, but that's just life. LOT's of things big universities do are like this, just gotta learn to live with it.

f you read correctly you would have realized that I was given the wrong information.

yes that does suck...but never trust what an employee of the unversity says, EVER! they are wrong more often than they are right...the best thing to do is look at your catalogue because it can't be wrong because that's the official means of seeing if you have graduated or not.

The biggest piece of advice i can give, cause believe me i've been there too with a psych class, is to NEVER EVER trust what your university tells you.

Actually, the official catalog for my college is put out every 4 years, but the BS in Computer Science graduation requirements changed at least 3 times in those 4 years. The book was hopelessly obsolete at the first change!

Fortunately, we were able to choose to stay with our current requirements or "upgrade" to the newest requirements, so people aren't screwed when they changed.

I was also lucky in that I had an excellent advisor who was interested in giving the best learning environment for your money. Unfortunately, she and most of the Computer Science department at my college has since retired or left because the school administration had "better plans" (like spend more on FOOTBALL and making the campus "look nice" by spending a million bucks on some brick... thingies... at each corner of the campus! <sarcasm>Woo!</sarcasm> I said the money would be better spent on a couple more janitors to clean up the place, but nooo...)...um.... enough of my rant...

My advice mirrors those of the others here. Even though my advisors were good, I still checked up on them myself. Get the requirements for your curriculum, see what you've already taken, then see what you need to take.

I mentioned this in another thread, and I will say it again, advisors could care less about your education!

We had to have a staff recognized "official" advisor sign off on our classes.

I usually just found some dean from another campus section (often humanities) to sign off on my final scheduling, because my assigned advisors always wanted me to take boatloads of useless elective classes that had little to do with my required course work. Their route would have added another 1-2 semesters to complete my still rather useless degree.

Just go off the website and you'll be fine.

I did, I downloaded the major sheet PDF and signed up for the classes. Some advisors agree with the sheet, some don't.
