Simple question. How do you get to the GUI after you login?
I get to the point that it displays my user name and asks for a command.
I don't get it...I'm way new to this.

What was the error?
Honestly, w/ Mandrake 9.1, it should have asked or at least given you the option to install a GUI like KDE or Gnome. You deleted a bunch of stuff before you posted here, didn't you? You thought "rm" meant, "Start up Windows XP lookin' winders on this thing.". |

Ha! Actually, I just plunked the CD in and let it go
I was flying blind and the person giving me directions was deaf
Honestly, I don't know. Problem is, I don't know the Linux Acronyms enough to stumble through it on my own.
Anyone wanna come up to Minnesota and walk me through it? I'll provide the snow
I do remember something about chosing between 3.2 and 2.8 or something like that, and I don't know what I installed, or if I installed it.
Seemed to me that it all went without a hitch, and was pretty quick considering the 7.5hour XP install I just went through..
Hey..........this Linux stuff is reeeeeeaallly fast! |

Oh, you meant specs!
Albatron kx400-8xv pro
1400 thunderbird
512 Apacer PC2100
Hercules Game Theater XP sound card
Asus GF4ti 4200
Lite On CD burner
Pioneer slot loading DVD
( 3com NIC onboard )...which one I don't know, or which one to choose when that option came up, so I guessed.
If I DO-OVER, what do I do? |

prolly a choice between xfree86 versions, take the newer one. try ctrl alt f6 or ctrl alt f7. that may get you into the x session
