Any first impressions? I'd like to try it out but I am a bit put off by the "community" designation (and by my experience with 9.2). I have a box that is running Mandrake 9.1 (and running beautifully, I might add), and I'm thinking about making the upgrade to 10, especially with all of the 2.6 goodness involved.
Have you guys noticed any glaring errors or bugs in this release? I understand its purpose is to work out some of the bugs and I don't mind shooting off a few bug reports and dealing with minor probs, but I don't want to ditch out my 9.1 if I won't be able to use sound or something... |

Tried it & it's seriously broken......
CD1 doesn't boot. Have to boot off CD2.
Asks for the mysterious CD4, even though I unselected it during install.
Refused to install lilo .........mkinitrd fails. (doesn't seem to like my LVM setup).
Gone back to 9.2.
I hope the "Official" release of 10.0 gets all this crap fixed, or it's SuSE here I come. |

I tried it too, asked for CD4 but didnt have it, though i booted off cd1. I accidentally put in cd3 when it asked for 2 and it crashed. No acceleration for my ati9700 (no linux has yet) so back to windows |

ATI has had Linux drivers for some time now. They do 3d just fine. My 9600pro is working nicely. |

washe: thanx for the offer, but for some reason i have direct rendering now! i'm using Xandros 2 (very nice distro imo). I just reinstalled Xandros and did an update and for some reason it works, even though i did the exact same thing last night and it didnt. O well, off to play UT2004 demo hopefully 66% done and to try out WineX3.3 w/ Point2Play |
