Quake3 in linux problem
i got quake3 to run in linux using the point release and the pak file.
but my mouse dosn't work in it. i can use the buttons on it but i can't move it. even in menus.
any ideas?
also i'm starting to notice that games are locking up/crashing my computer like they would in windows sometimes.
i was playing one of the ones that came with mandrake and it made me have to hit the reset button. save that problem for another day unless someone knows

Regarding the frezing in windows and linux
I had a similar issue.
Turned out to be an IRQ problem
I moved my sound card to another slot, and all was well
(stupid sb live)
Try sliding any pci card to another slot, especially if you have a sound blaster card.Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

ok switched the sound card. find out sooner or later if that workd. i know windows is going to have a fit if i ever reboot into it.
switched my mouse to ps2. didn't change it.

I had this happen using a KT333 chipset on the stock kernel that did not have the appropriate module for that (2.4.18bf in debian). It turned out I was getting suprrious IRQ interrupt messages, (tipping me off) and that was the cause of the freezing during Games and heavy I/O.
This could also be an ACPI/APIC problem. After fighting for a while with that I make sure to explicitly disable it.

Have you tried running memtest on your machine?
It's easy to do and will give something to mark off the checklist as no being a problem.Where's Lunch?

Howdy. My FiL had a real bad "stomach bug" last night, turned out to be his appendix which ruptured this morning. He's in surgery right now.
