knoppix help

ok, i downloaded knoppix, and burned it to a cd, then restarted my computer. Well everything went fine for a while, i started it in english, and then it went through all my specs, such as video card, etc. then my monitor just freaked out on me, it was kinda like a static station on a tv. Well, i tried it again, and again it went through all my system specs, and then in the same spot, when it was done with that, my monitor went all staticky. Why is it doing that, and what can i do to fix it? thanks

You need to specifyyou monitor settings at boot time. Look on the CD for a readme file containing command lines you can specify at boot./

if choosing a monitor and whatever doesnt work (i dont recall ever getting any kind of choice w/ knoppix), try booting with "fb800x600"

I second that notion. try it with fb800x600 or maybe nofb :-/ ? I never had the problem and also try what thronka(?) said. There is a nice file called Knoppix CheatCodes.txt so read that and it should help you.

i've tried a couple of things, and it either gives me the static, or seems to stop going. It will be on the page where it detects hardware, etc. and then i think will be at this hardrive part, and then it will stop. I can type stuff, but it doesn't do anything.

it could be that your dl'd version of Knoppix is somehow corrupted. check how it performs on another puter, or just download and burn a new version. if you wanted to pay postage (less than $5) I'll send you a copy of Knoppix 3.2 English version 11-2003...mine works fine I live on the East Coast, USA.

i tested the cd (knoppix testcd) and it said it was fine, so i don't think it's the cd
