Are you trying to delete it for a fresh installation?
Are you currently in linux and trying to get rid of an existing one?
Currenlty in Windows?

Bascially, where are you trying to delete the partition from?

You can delete it from the setup routine with no problem if you're doing a fresh install.

If you have a bootable disk, you can use fdisk.
if you have windows 2000/XP Control panel-->Computer magnament, look for partitions and select the linux partition and delete it.

If you want to reinstall linux just boot again with the bootdisk and with the installer you can delete partitions, Mandrake installer its very good with it.

delete linux paritions from window 2000 environment

if you are in windows 2000 then

Start-->Setting-->Control Panel--->Administrative Tools-->
Computer Mangement-->Storage--->Disk Mangment

you will see the visual view of disk partitions, right click on the linux paritions then either delete or format them.

Be carefule by mistake do not delete the windows partionts. For linux partitions most likely file system will NOT be FAT/FAT32/NTFS

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------OR

use some tools like Patition Manger, Partiton Magic to delete linux partitions.
