At least you'll know what "/" means when you type it in the console.

You should know "/" means if you have ever used DOS even. I know I know-but it was once my only operating system. Dos 6.0. LOL. Guess thats why linux commands dont scare me.

wasn't it "\" in DOS? I've always had problems switching between the two cause of things like that...(not to mention typing ls at the NT command prompt).

    When I started learning i used www.linuxquestions.org a lot

    http://howtos.linux.com/howtos/HOWTO...tegories.shtml is also good.

and don't forget www.google.com . I've found that if you've got a question about linux, someone else has asked that exact same question before and so a search will usually find it (assuming it's a very specific question).

Google/linux/ shouldn't be surprising - doesn't Google run on Open Source system software? Yes - here's the History of Google from their web site: http://www.google.com/corporate/history.html

Oh and the reason DOS is \ is because everyone else did it the other way..

I guess you got your wish EX

I just got my Linux Ubuntu CD's. I ordered 10 free ones, they sent me 20! I'll be handing these babies out at work!

It's an nice OS, and they give you a LIVE CD and an INSTALL CD in each packet..very cool for free!

Oh, and I ran the live cd and connected online with no problems at all with the included Firefox browser Only problem was that it used the smaller of the two monitors hooked up to the computer.
