| installation error over ftp
hello everyone, i'm trying to install SuSE 9.2 over ftp and everything was going fine untill i get the "unable to mount /dev/hda1 on /mnt/" and so on........ it asked me if i knew what i was doing continue, if not reboot.
I do know what i'm doing, but i'm not an expert.... what effect is this going to have on the long run while i wait for the download to finish "1.6gb in 2hours" over ftp.
will this fail at the end, should I end it now, or is this "normal" ?
I really want SuSE 9.2, but i dont want to wait 2hrs if its not going to install properly
some one help please, Thank You all |

I allowed it to finish downloading from the ftp and i got an even bigger error.. "disks are just about exhausted, continue?"
at some point, the downloads did not want to transfer, i've seen this in the past when trying to install linux and the drive runs out of space, i get the unable to complete installation.
but, i have given linux its own 10gb drive and i think to install suse over ftp is just enough space.
what can i do to install linux suse over ftp? |

If so i can just burn you the dvd and send it to you. |

no i dont have a dvd drive, but i will get one if i have to.... i really like that new SUSE linux but cant get it to install... infact i burned an ISO i got from a mirror, suse9.1 personal edition ISO and when i installed it last night, i dont believe it asked me to create a user account, only asked me to place the ROOT password, when i loaded kde, and clicked on YAST control manager, it started and crashed on its own, then i went to the KDE control manager, and found a way to creat a user, but found that it too was linked to the YAST and failed.
pretty unusual.... sure i'll take that offer on getting SUSE on DVD, that way i get me a DVD and install it.
so far, i'm stuck with one account, the root account and when i start kde it has a red wall paper with a BOMB! |
