Same system that I am having problems with X. Trying to get it on my network.
It has an PCI Intel NIC in it (not sure what model, but an older one). Have that connected to the 24 port 10/100 Switch in my room which is connected to my Windows box and my Linksys Wireless G Router (also have an 8 port hub connected to the router with 3 PC's on it but that shouldnt matter for my question).
When I type in ifconfig I get this: Code: eth0 Link encap: Ethernet HWaddr: 00:A0:C9:91:78:89
BROADCAST MULTILINK MTU:1500 METRIC:1
RX packets: 0 errors: 0 dropped: 0 overruns: 0 frames: 0
TX packets: 2 errors: 0 dropped: 0 overruns: 0 carriers: 0
collisions: 0 txqueuelen: 1000
RX bytes: 0 (0.0 b) TX bytes: 1180 (1.1kB)
Interupt: 10 BASE address: 0x1000
lo Link encap: Local Loopback
inet addr: 127.0.0.1 Mask: 255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 METRIC:1
RX packets: 0 errors: 0 dropped: 0 overruns: 0 frames: 0
TX packets: 0 errors: 0 dropped: 0 overruns: 0 carriers: 0
collisions: 0 txqueuelen: 0
RX bytes: 0 (0.0 b) TX bytes: 0 (0.0kB) When I try to ping my router I get a "Network is Unreachable" error.
I'm trying to get it on my network so I can use WinSCP to get files off of it (like the /etc/X11/xorg.conf) so I can print them out and post them and what not. So how to I further configure this box to be on my network. I have a link light on the NIC and on the Switch, so its not a bad patch cable. Any ideas?
