linux video capture software.

I'm going to be setting up a computer to be a home entertainment center..it's just an old 300 mhz p2 and I wanna use linux. I'm either going to be using ubuntu or fc3. Which would you recommend from the 2 and also, what is a good program to use to rip dvd's and save them on the harddrive. I'd really like it to be able to take a whole cd and save it as one file, instead of as a collection of files

. (and if i do use the program you recommend, I'm probably going to need a lot of help getting it on..cus i'm very new to linux). Thanks

sorry..i forgot we had a seperate linux forum

I mean I want to be able to put a dvd in and rip the dvd to the computer..that way i can put my dvd collection on that computer (it will be a 160 gig harddrive

just wanted to let everyone know i've got linux installed. I'm using ubuntu at the moment but I also plan to install fc3 to test and see which one is better. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. thank you

How hard was that to set up. I'd be interested in trying that myself if it isnt' too hard.

hey...just to explain it better...i'm looking for a program like dvd shrink for linux. I'm guessing no one can help cus i didn't explain myself the right way...lol (i'm hoping atleast...lol). nay help would be appreciated! thanks!
