Mandrake problems with Wireless Card - madwifi

Hello.

I'm entirely new at linux. I've just installed Mandrake 10.1 on my IBM R51 Thinkpad (dual boot with XP Pro). Everything seems to be going well except I can't get my wireless card to work. It's an IBM 11abg Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter. I'm trying to get madwifi to work with it, but after downloading the most recent version of it, MAKE, and MAKE INSTALL, I still get "FATAL: Module ath_pci not found." when I do MODPROBE ATH_PCI. I have no idea what I should do, and would really like any help anyone can give me.

James

Well, do you have the module compiled in the kernel? if you type 'modprobe ath_pci' what does it return? If it returns nothing, what do you get out of 'lsmod |grep ath_pci'?

It sounds like 1.) you don't have the module, or 2.) you do not have your kernel source located under /usr/source/linux or a symlink to said source dir.

Wow . . . I would have just guessed the module.
