switched over completely last night.
have a few servers running linux, have an IPCOP box set up to control my linux network, have Asterisk running on top of CentOS to give a kick to my VoIP line, have a CS:Source and Ventrilo Server running on top of Ubuntu (for friends, I used to game a lot, dont have time for it now), and as of last night, my main rig is running Kubuntu.
windows took yet another dump on me last night. was forced to reformat, upon trying to gave me all kinds of new errors. popped in the Kubuntu disk, and let the magic happen. mounted the NTFS drive and been grabbing files off it as I need them, once complete am going to throw that drive in another system and make a file server. only place I'm in M$ environment now is at work."There are only 10 kinds of people in the world, those that can read binary, and those that cannot."

haha what a nerd, did you get your voip phone yet?

March 20th, 2006, 01:01 PM #83yup, configured the extension at my friends house too, simply pick up the phone on my desk and dial his extension and his phone rings on his desk via the internet. calls to and from the PSTN work fine as well. so $5.95 a month unlimited incoming calls and $0.02 per minute out going to US and Can for my line. was playing with conferencing the other night, had 4 people on the call, could mute each one, unmute, bridge other people in, people could dial my number then dial an extension to gain access to the conference, pretty sweet.

Why are you unable to use linux on your pc?

The reason I am unable to use linux is 2 reasons #1. nothing is able to detect my SATA harddrive and #2. The DoD does not support it.

I am down to 2 OS's but I am trying to sever ties to MS just to see if I can. I don't game as much as I used to and UBUNTU seems to cover my daily activity. My wife's CreataCard and SIMS2 is a holdup right now.
I am trying to turn on as many people as possible to Ubuntu as it is easy, reasonable learning curve and you can be up and surfing in 17 minutes on a Pentium4 from the time the disk drive closes. your dirty copy of xp which is slowing you down may well just sit there as an unused dual boot

Just re-read this the entire thread. Man, 4 years ago couldn't get Linux going. Now I'm all about the Linux.

I run it on my home desktop and build servers with only Linux, usually Debian.
