I just got the new Ubuntu, (version 5.10), and have a few questions.
I couldn't find any data burning software,(like K3B in Mepis), does it have one?
Also, what repositories do I aquire packages from, (like debian for Mepis)?
As you can tell, I've used Mepis for a bit..... |

Just as in mepis and all other debian based distros you can install (almost) any software with APT. perhaps you want to 'man apt-get'. Also Ubuntu's Wiki has a little to say on the subject. However to answer your question more directly, the easiest way to get a cd burning tool is: Code: $sudo apt-get install k3b Let us know if you get what you need, or not .

Alright, that's done. Thanx.
What about Wine? I can't find it in synaptic and apt-get isn't working either.
This is what I want to do: http://www.linux-gamers.net/modules/...p?articleid=45 |

I got wine and "cervesa"(?) via apt-get. But when I apt-get all the packages in the likned article, I get a message "msttcorefonts does not have an installer" or something about install instructions for msttcorefonts. Everything else installs O.K.
When I run the "sh WineCVS.sh" command, it says the directory does not exist. I'm stuck on step 3 of the linked article. |

I downloaded the "script", but I can't understand what to do with it. I don't know how to even read the stuff! It's nearly Greek. I thought this was supposed to make it EASY for anyone to do this. It's just not working. PLEASE help!!! |

Change to the location where the WineCVS.sh is lying and start it with:
$ sh WineCVS.sh
| Are you in the directory you downloaded the script to? You have to change to the directory you downloaded the script to.

I downloaded the script to my desktop. I don't know how to change directories. I've used Mepis a bit, but I've never done anything like this.
Your patience is highly appreciated.... |
