Fedora and mice

So my mouse in FC4 is behaving strangely. It doesn't click. It moves fine but doens't do anyhting else except on the firefox button on the top. nothing on the desktop and nothing on webpages. It doesn't even change to the hand on links like it used to. I tried a different mouse but the same thign happened. I'd ideally like to use the Microsoft Intellemouse I have but that and my MX700 don't work. Any ideas?

It sounds like more of a desktop settings issue than a mouse problem but more information would he helpful:

are you saying it used to work ok on this same FC4 Linux install?

any recent changes?

Gnome/KDE?

what does the input device section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf look like?

(mine)

Section "InputDevice"
Driver "mouse"
Identifier "Mouse[1]"
Option "Buttons" "7"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "Name" "ImExPS/2 Logitech Explorer Mouse"
Option "Protocol" "explorerps/2"
Option "Vendor" "Sysp"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

It used to work just fine, then I had it off for quite some time. I rebooted and it seems to work fine with mny MX700. I agree that it sounds like a config setting somewhere. It's in Gnome. I don't have the file here at work now but I'll post it later tongiht.

try running xev from a terminal window and see if it produces output when you click.

Hmmm odd yeah so it took me a while to get back to this problem. I got the MX700 to work fine with the clicking but now the other 6 buttons on it don't work. when I run xev I see an event for each button being pressed but how do I link them to actions in fedora?
