Whats the difference b/w....

Linux and Unix? I was just curious as to what the real differences between the two were. I couldnt really find much information through googling other than UNIX was better for large networks where linux is better for your regular power user....but im sure someone here has a more concerete answer than that...or maybe some good links?

UNIX is not a specific operating system. UNIX is a type of operating system that has been registered as having met the UNIX specifications. Linux is not such an OS because it takes a lot of money, but it's very UNIX-like.

Some official UNIX operating systems are Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, and IRIX. Some non-official UNIX operatins systems are Linux and BSD.
