I would have to say this is the worst experience I have ever had trying to install an OS.
This is what I have done so far:
Try installing Kubuntu with the desktop installer(trashed both of my harddrives and I needed to use data recovery to get it back)
Tried installing Kubuntu with the desktop installer again with a new burned cd(I think the first one had some errors). Every time I would try to install it would crash, so I couldnt ever install it.
Tried installing Kubuntu with the alternate installer(anouther new disk). Worked fine until it started transfering files, where it gave me an error every few seconds that files were corrupt.
Now I am downloading Ubuntu alternate installer with bittorrent, and it better work.
I am starting to think the problem is with bittorrent. Every time I burn the disk with Nero I always have it verify the contents, and every time so far each disk has been a perfect match with the iso.
Any ideas what else it could be?

Well first off bittorrent is slow sometimes viruses come in certian areas and are unstable..
But anyways.
Im reallly tired so i will try to help the best i can.
I know ubuntu has BAD mouse drivers.
It could just be the harddriveware with compatablty problems on that,
Gawd its 2:21 pm and no sleep yest. |

wow you're unlucky!
you should check the md5 sum of the iso after you download it, especially if you're using bittorrent. all the correct md5's are on the download page. I don't know if nero has a feature to get the md5 sum (k3b does ) but you can get some free software to do it.
also, the alternate installer has a feature that lets you check the integrity of the disk before you install.

Yes, I will configure the mouse manually if I can't get a preset working... |

I will look into the md5 sum, though I never checked one before. |

Ok, scanned the disk with the disk checker that is integrated with the installer. It failed...
This is getting to be just dumb. I think I am just going to order some disks and have them ship me some. |

it may also be some bug in the ubuntu installer in conjunction with your hardware. Have you tried any other versions of ubunto or other distros? |

Well, I have installed Ubuntu 5 on here before with no problems(I used disks I ordered from them though).
I have also tried Suse, Solaris, and a few others...I have never had the slightest problem before. |

It's probably some obscure bug that only occurs with a certain hardware configuration then. Maybe try a newer (read development) version of ubuntu? Or just try another distro altogether? |
