Fedora Core OS Question

Hi guys I no longer play WoW and I am heading back to linux (fedora core), Here is my question... The last time I used linux was FC 3 (Fedora Core 3) and now they are up to 7!?! question is I have always ran Intel and now I am on a laptop with these specs....

1.60 gigahertz AMD Turion 64 X2
Board: Quanta 30B9 65.27
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: Hewlett-Packard F.28 02/08/2007
1920 Megabytes Installed Memory

Slot 'DIMM 1' has 1024 MB at 667mhz
Slot 'DIMM 2' has 1024 MB at 667mhz

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 512MB [Display adapter]
Default Monitor (2x)
LPL 17.2 [Monitor] (17.2"vis)

I gave you that little bit of info because I want to know should I run the x86_64 or the i386 or would it really matter any Ideas or comments would be nice to see but no worrries if not. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I am going to use this for just basic home based applications nothing to spectacular so maybe there is something better then Fedora core?

Ubuntu is the currently the flavour of the month. Personally, I never got along too well with RedHat and Fedora Core for some reason. I would try the 64 bit version, as you have the 64 bit processor.

I haven't tried fc7 but i didn't really like fc6 as a regular desktop machine. Worked fine as a server though. I would also recommend ubuntu Especially on that machine. Get beryl up and running (ooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh...pretty) lol. they've got 6.06 long term support and 7.04. I'm running 7.04 with no issues. let us know how it goes! (the diff since fc3 days is AMAZING. it's like a whole new world! lol)

Since you've been out of the game for a while, try the FC live CD 1st. I haven't tried it myself, but I do vigorously encourage the live CD approach, to try before you buy (install) anything....Jet

PS: In fact, they have more than one live CD avail. I think it's time to try Fedora again....

Try a download of Everest Home Edition or CPU-z to id your processor, or right clicking on My Computer and selecting Properties should tell you.
