Also, as expected, there is similar Kubuntu release for those prefering KDE.
Hardy Heron Alpha 4 CD release brings with it many updated, new, and exciting applications. For this latest release of Kubuntu 8.04, the usability standards have improved and there have already been some aesthetic changes. Besides these changes, there have been updates to many common applications as well as bug fixes to some of those annoyances you may or may not have run into. With every new pre-release, updates will be documented allowing you to thoroughly test your Kubuntu 8.04 installation. Remember that all of these features are part of a pre-release version of Kubuntu, and may still have issues. We ask that any problems you come across that you file a bug, if one has yet to be filed for your problem.

I may have to try Hardy Heron.
If only I had a test system that had something faster than a P-III.

Nice!
I'm gonna play with Kubuntu probably. But my motherboard is not linux friendly. Especially on alpha (testing) builds.
But I'll give it a shot anyways..Q6600@4Ghz | i7 920@4.4Ghz |E6320@3.5Ghz

alpha 4 is ok but I still recommend 7.10 at the moment for someone looking to experiment with linux for the first time. alpha 5 should be out in about a week or two. (24'th i think?) The installer has still been a little buggy on a few of the machines I tested on. Some packages are crashing a lot still and the bug report software is sketchy as well. I've started installing 7.10 on customers machines cus it's incredibly stable but i still can't wait for the 8.04 release as it includes a few new nice features, especially built in support for kvm

I've tried Alpha 6 and I am impressed by it.
I've even been able to run KDE 4 without problems. I rather like it.
Take note that this PC is a P-III running at 730 MHz. It works fine though.
I may get a review comparing GNOME, KDE 4, and XFCE.
