Is the folder or your user account on the host computer marked as private?

You can copy/paste files from the V-machine to the host too you know. Install the VMware Tools. Top | Vm

my user account on windows is admin and the folders are marked share on network.

I can share folders sometimes, but then ubuntu starts asking me for password over and over.
