Intel PRO Wireless 3945 driver installation aid needed

Hey fellow TechIMOers. I could use help installing an Intel wireless driver.
I have a Lenovo y410, with an Intel Wireless PRO 3945 driver.
I installed the Mandriva 2009 RC1 DVD Free Edition, and apparently that doesn't include a wireless driver for the 3945. So, I downloaded the driver from the given site, but I was unable to remember how to install a .tar file. I'm too used to the Add/Remove.
And, as there isn't a free ethernet jack here, I was wondering how to install the file.
Or, if someone could give me a link to a RPM that is compatible to the said OS, that would be appreciated.
As always, thank you for the help.

hello,
use file-roller and extract that tar file - of if you like the command line enter tar -xf.
then CD into the directory where the extracted files are and check out the install instrcutions.

basically the solution I came up with was to install 8.10 alpha.
Now running 8.10 official. I am liking how Ubuntu continues to improve native driver support.
