The best way to learn anything is to use it.
Ubuntu Home Page | Ubuntu
Install Ubuntu and give it a try. There a lot of resources online if you need to know how to do something.

You don't even have to install in. Burn the iso to CD and there is an option when you boot the CD to just try it out without installing it
