Linux Mint, which is based on Ubuntu, has a backup feature which allows you to backup your install on cd or a pen drive, which would let you then swap out the drive for a new one. APTonCD is the program name.
~Branson | Thanks for the tip on Mint. I'll be using Linux/Ubuntu more, so anything I learn helps.
As for the Deathstars, I rarely see them, and was shocked when I picked up a 2002 and 2000 computer with Deathstars that still worked. Edit; I had a third computer I was working on that also has a 2002 Deathstar, with a bad spots on the disk, that I seemed to be able to repair with a win98se startup disk.
I guess bad things do come in 3s.
As a hobby I fix up old computers, and give them to friends and family that don't have computers, that,s the only reason I'm involved with Deathstars at all.
I Like Seagate and Western Digital myself.
