| Drake9.1 and Radeon RV300 drivers?
After several repeated beatings to my hard drives and Mandrake assuming it could completely obliterate my MBR, I've got it installed.
I went to ATi's site to try to get drivers for my R9500Pro, but they've only got them for Xfree 4.1.0 and 4.2.0. For those not in the know, Drake9.1 comes with 4.3.0 according to ATi's version check script.
Has anyone seen, or compiled the drivers for 4.3.0, if that's even possible? I wouldn't really care, as Drake recognized the card fine, but it won't let me configure it for dual monitors anywhere that I can find. It's kinda neat having twin screens, but I'd much rather have the extra desktop, you know? |

4.3 seems to have lots of problems with 3d as it requires new versions of stuff that nobody has, for example, to get DRI on my radeon, it required external kernel modules as the ones in the official kernel for DRI aren't new enough. They should just sort it out!
You may need some stuff from http://dri.sourceforge.net
As was said recently "XFree86 isn't a community driven project" Well it bloody well should be!
I think 4.3 has Radeon 9500 support built in, you have to use the Radeon driver with the right parameters though.
do "man radeon" and see what you find.

Drake seems to find the Radeon just fine, and it uses it okay also. All the lines in XF86Config-4 looked correct according to what yon link says. It's just that I can't get the dual monitors to work correctly.
I tried to add the extra monitor and screen to the file and that just resulted in me doing a lot of viming to fix it.
I'm going to install the latest drivers from dri.sourceforge and see if that changes anything. Wheeeeeee! |

While trying to run the DRI install script I get:
[root@localhost dripkg]# sh install.sh
Could not located 'ed' editor. Aborting.
Ideas? |
