    Wine config problem

Ok, been reading the docs for wine, they say it's pretty hard to config it, so i want to use one of their tools..

    When i go: ./tools/wineinstall

It says after a few seconds of running stuff

    "Running configure...

./configure line 949: configure log: Premission denied

    Configure failed. aborting install."

So i try winecfg going to programs/winecfg

    It says:

"./winecfg could not locate wine source tree"

    What's wrong?

i would guess you may need root permissions, are you runnning this as root?
Odds are very good there are several spelling mistakes in this post.

Few things for you here. 1.) you are correct that you need to be a user and not root.

2.) it sounds like it cant find the source tree for wine. Is it looking to the correct directory for the wine source?

3.) if you are having trouble compiling from source, why not head over to codeweavers and grab the binary? It works beautifilly and makes the config a breeze.

Did you decompress the tarball as the user who is trying to run the config?

If not simply run chown -R USER /path/to/wine_dir (as root)

Yeah, sounds like you just untarred it into like /usr/src or something. Either run it as root, or build it in your home directory.
    Also, check its all there.
