| xwin32 display error... please help this poor poor man ;)
I'm using xwin32-5.4 on a winXP pro system. I am logging into a linux environment using ssh and setting the display environment to display to my ip address. most programs work fine... however, when I try and load the program "maestro", I get this error... Quote:
FATAL Could not initialize virtual device controller
Xlib: extension "XInputExtension" missing on display "my.addy.here.com:0.0".
[1] Done maestro
| can any of you give me some advice... honestly... this is the program that I really need to get working. In case you are wondering, it is a molecular building program... (build molecules from atoms)
advice?
thanks

I guess what I'm asking more specifically is whether or not I can just find the appropriate file and put it where it needs to go or whether this is somthing that the xwin32 software needs to have programmed into it...?

and equally important... is the problem with my xserver program, or is it something that needs to be changed on the linux box that I'm dealing with?
I'm really pretty new to this stuff, so pardon the potentially dumb questions!

What that error message means is the the Xserver is missing that extension.
Now as to whether xwin32 has that extension built into it or not I have been completely unable to find. Perhaps contact starnet and inquire there?
Their website is next to useless.
As far as putting a file somewhere, you won't be able to. This extension either will or will not be xwin32.

thanks jk, that's exactly what I was looking for.
I'll email them and see what I can figure out.... for as bad as their website is, they usually seem pretty responsive via email.
thanks,
