Hey! i have a Toshiba 5205-s703 and i was wondering if it would be advisable to get the Hitachi 7200 rpm HDD??? coz my laptop does tend to get hot ( average cpu temps are around 60 Degree Celcius and average 4200 rpm HDD temps are 53-60 degree celcius ) so would faster hdd overheat coz of the hot cpu????
thanks |

well supposedly its a prob with the model ...... i think the designs not right and hence it overheats... thats why toshiba discontinued it.... the above are idle temps...
its a 2 ghz p4-m, 60 gig HDD, 512 mb ram , gf4 mx 460 go, Win xp home..
i was wondering if the hdd would be fine with these temps... |

most all 5400 rpm drives are gonna be fine, the 7200 all carry additional heat though and you don't wanna damage stuff for the small boost in r/w speed |

You'll have a bit faster access time, but the 5400 will also throw off a bit more heat than the 4200. |

why would a 7200rpm hdd get considerably warmer than one that spins slower?
friction in the bearings?
i don't think so.
if a lot of hitachi harddisks were to break down after certain time, hitachi wouldn't sell them in the first place.
i am planning to buy one of those 60gig 7200rpm hdds the second i can afford one! |
