I just bought a Dell Inspiron 5150. I want to add a 512mb module to the laptop. What do you guys think about adding generic memory? Good idea or bad? I'd get a generic stick w/lifetime warranty.
If a company is offering a lifetime warranty, and they seem to live up to it (check 'em out on resellerratings.com) you should be good to go. Still, for peace of mind and only 5-10 bucks more I'd get Crucial, PNY, Kingston, Corsair, etc.
I use stuff like kingston in the Dell dimension 2400s I sell....I dont think any Dell is really oing to be pushing the envelope on memory timings etc, lol. I imagine you'll be ok with generic stuff
