Dark marks...

Hi

I'm getting dark marks or spots on my laptop surface either side of the touch pad...and I'm not sure why. Someone did suggest it could be due to sweaty hands...but I cleaned it with a damp cloth and still the marks are there. Any explanations? How do I get rid of these marks?

Thank you.

the sweaty hands theory still holds, with the sweat making a permanent chemical change in the paint or plastic of the laptop. or possibly irregularities in the coating or plastic which have only been exposed due to slight wear. light and tobacco smoke can have large effects on the colouring of paint pigments and plastics. anyway, these marks won't harm your lappy, so don't sweat it.

the modding forum has mention of vinyl dyes which could help tart it up a bit. not sure that it wouldn't transfer to your hands, though, or wear off easily and leave you in the same boat. maybe you could find a cheap replacement case from the maker or ebay?
