| Laptop Recommendations???
Hey all,
I'm currently thinking about getting myself a laptop...
Not really looking for a desktop replacement... But then i don't wanna spend money on something which is gonna feel slow to use compaired to my desktop...
Will be used for abit of everything probably... Office apps, internet, movies (dvd, divx etc...), cd burning, some gaming (for some multiplayer gaming when friends come around etc... Or to keep me entertained in lunch breaks at work hehe)...
I was thinking maybe a AMD mobile cpu but havent seen many laptops in australia with this option... Also what are the mobile GPU's from nvidia and ati like? Sorry i don't really follow the progress with laptop chipsets much... 512MB ram would be ok (single stick), 15inch or bigger screen running atleast 1024x768, higher prefered... Also want a screen with decent viewing angle...
Umm onboard LAN//modem prefered... Umm yeh idunno, what else might i need?
Current price aim would be approx $3k australian (about 2k US), maybe more depending on the specs... But then i don't wanna pay for something thats never gonna be used/i don't need...
Any and all help much appreciated!

| I love mine and it will save you about $500US on your spending limit. My benchmark that proves it will game
The weight is heavier than many other laptops, but I don't notice it much anymore. (To be truthful, it's size and power make other laptops look like toys ) |

Just picked up an eMachines M2350 @ Best Buy for $999. 15.4" screen, 2800+ AMD Athlon XP-M chip, 512MB RAM, solid battery life (about 2:30 or 3:00 hours), 60GB drive, CDRW/DVD. It's slick for the price - Emachines is replacing it with a new one that's $300 or $400 more than this one - I think this is closeout and that's why it is so cheap.
Gaming is decent on it - but definitely nothing near what you could get on a high end gaming laptop. |
