Hello, my boss says its time for a lap top, and I have two choices. Unfortuneatly these are my only two choices because he already purchased them, I get one, my co-worker gets the other. But since I'm higher up, I get first pick. I'm not the brightest crayon in the box when picking computers, so would you guys mind helping me out? Which one would you pick? FYI I want the best one for your money because I have to pay %60 of the cost.
A Sony Vaio TR3 http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...uters_TRSeries
or
A Toshiba Tablet PC M 205 http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/...&seg=HHO&sel=1
Thanks for your help! |

get the toshiba...it's got a bigger screen (the sony is under 11") and the processor is faster.
frankly, neither laptop is great stuff but the toshiba is the better of the two. i hope he got 512mb of ram w/it...the standard config for the toshiba seems to be 256, whereas the sony sems to come w/512mb.

Definitely the Toshiba. Better HD, LCD, CPU. Better at everything that counts. And a mediocre vid card (good for a lappy) |

some of the dells get very good marks and i've always liked the ibm thinkpads...the trackpt mouse is much more accurate to use than a touchpad and does not deteriorate over time and ibm quality & service (esp driver support) is always rock-solid.
what did you mean you have to pay 60% of the cost? |

wow, you gotta pay 40% and you got no choice?
A tightwad like me would have chosen something along the $1200 area if I had to pay 40% of it.
(must be a fat job, lol)

That is exactly why i wasn't allowed to pick my own because i would have picked the cheapest compaq i could find, and then when it became useless in a year i would have complained.....just like with my computer. I'm kinda bumbed that is not that great though. |

exactly!...you have to pay over half the cost of the laptop and you have to pick between two models which someone else (who doesn't seem that knowedgeable, imo) picked for you?!
you can get an ibm T41 with a 14" screen (compared to the 12" display on the toshiba) for the same price.
sorry...didn't mean to 'bum you out" on your picks. the toshiba isn't exactly a bad machine...it just you would have gotten a little more bang for the buck had your boss done some comparision shopping.

I have never had an IBM before...I can tell you one thing...I like the teeny tiny-ness of the sony though, and I'm a girl, so you can imagine how amused I am over it's cuteness. (see, exactly the reason, i'm calling apon you smart people to help me) |
