Is there any type of configuration that I would need to do? I thought it was just a simple cable connection?
My laptop model is HP Compaq nc6000
My tv is Sony big screen projection with an S cable outlet.
Please enlighten me!
Thanks in advance.

Hey Veronica, You're on the right track with the S-video cable. Now to watch video you must (Resort Down) in the top right head corner to make it a smaller box, when this is done you are able to drag that window over to your t.v screen depending on where your screen is, to the left or to the right should do it. Hopefully this answers your delima.
Have a great day eh |

| Laptop, TV power issue
I have been going through the threads, and i am unable to find any issue with power. I got my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop to connect to my Samsung TV, however if i plug in the power cord into the laptop, the display on the TV turns black and white and starts jumping. I have tried a surge protector, i have tried changing the frequency and even the resolution and nothing. Can someone help?

Hi, I have a HP G7065EM series laptop with vista o/s and s-video ouput whereas teh TV has a 3RCA input, am using a SVideo cable to connect the laptop to teh TV. have intel graphics media accelerator driver. am getting black and white output on TV. tried changing the various PAL and NTSC settings but the problem persists. Windows help menu says "Select S-Video, not Composite, as the TV input type". Am not sure where to make this change as graphic properties or display settings does not show this option. Had also read somewhere that svideo has to be selected instead of composite. Can someone pls helpppppppp on where to make this change?
anything else also needs to be done to get colour output?
Thankssssssssss a ton in advance. |

hello... just need a little help. I connected the S cable from my laptop to tv, and used the function key on the keyboard. now i can see the video, but the audio still only comes through the laptop speakers, not the TV speakers. I even tried it with both the video on the TV only or on the TV AND computer, but the sound only comes through the computer for some reason.

running with a toshiba M55 satellite laptop, plus a s 4prong cable, and a 3 prong RCA cable (yellow, red and white) and i rebooted the puter plus i turned off the TV (sony trinitron flat screen) with only RCA hookups (no serial) i finally got my cable to get audio plus video in color to come through...i had to play for hours, but if you goto AV 2, PLUS hit the fn key( function ) and hold it down, plus hit it twice, you will drag up up an option for the puter and TV..........it's the second option.....just hold down the fn key and hit F5 twice and you will hit gold...i was getting streaming video before, but i was doubting that AVI format was going to to work with a simple cable. i was wrong...now (with any video format) my stuff works.......
just realize this, if you see it on the computer screen, that is what you will get on the TV in the end..
you will probably see thi windows toolbar, etc in the end, but considering any movie from your H/D will play fine, PLUS TV ants can stream anything you want....it's a sweet ride...
thanks for the pointers on this thread.... |

| S Cable - Connecting laptop to tv
Hi All,
I have a similiar issue as most of you;
HP Pavilion DV9615TX Vista Ultimate (64bit)
Panasonic TC68v86
SVideo out of the Laptop to an RCA converter into the RCA Video in of the TV
Worked like a bought one no problem.
Until.
The laptop went in for a repair, BIOS was upgraded, faulty DVD/CD was replaced, all appropriate updates were applied, (I kept the system up to date anyway except the BIOS).
I hadn't used the TV for quite some time but now I get the NOTHING on the TV.
I have noticed that now the second monitor (TV) is HDTV. My TV is a standard TVand this is where I believe the issue is.
I just happen to have 2 other laptops, same models, all have had their BIOSs updated and again kept up to date with patches and guess what? Laptop to TV now longer works, and the TV that is recognised is HDTV.
I've tried;
clone monitor
Extend Monitor
1024x768 on both
800x600 on both
Auto
I have not been able to get it to work.
Any thoughts?????
thx |

I had the same probs with my HP NC6000, and nothing I did with the videocard/settings helped so i did like this in the end, and Voila! Colour! Obviously...a thinner cable makes it easier to push back the connector. And keep pressing Fn + f4 or just f4 more times, there are several options. Good luck / Anna.

Its in the display properties, in the control panel, is where you need to go.
The setting tab is where you see 2 monitors. your second monitor has to be set on 16 bit there is a drop down box for to change it. After you have your cable hooked up, make sure that monitor 2 is highlighted in the blue color. refer to above steps to do this.
now click on advanced options and find the display options tab. the tv tab should be colorful. the next drop down box should give you some options, keep trying each one and see if it corrects it.
note: you may still have to change your resolution. other than that I'm not sure how else to explain it.
Please read this fully and change your settings...I cannot help you guys any further than this. Im sorry but please do not reply to my email.
I have given you all the info you need, and it seems that in my prior post I asked for you to email me with specifics, but it seems only a few of you have done it, the rest can't seem to follow directions, So I will be removing my email. All posts will be here only. |
