    Question Laptop tries to start then shuts down

     
    I have a DeLL Inspiron 5000e which I've already replaced the plastic casing on once. The top broke again around the hinges and I tried to replace it again but this time when I turn on the laptop, it starts for about 2 or 3 seconds then dies, then it will try again and again until I remove all power. Could I have damaged the flex cable on the back of the LCD screen?

    Do you have an external monitor you could plug in? Can you get into the BIOS?

    Before I tried to replace the top cover everthing was working so I know I did something in the process to cause this.

    Check and make sure all your connections are good.

    Also, make sure you have the heatsink secure as well. I just reassempled a Dell laptop last night that was doing the same thing. I cable had slid under the heatsink and was not allowing good contact.
